The former ELCO Theatre is now under extensive renovation to renew the sparkle of its original design as a "theatrical palace" when it opened in 1924. The renovation also adds state-of-the-art video and audio capabilities, an enlarged stage and other improvements designed to create a first-class performance venue for major theatrical and musical productions. It will also add 6,000 square feet for meetings and events. In so doing, the Lerner Theater Project will create new opportunities for additional tourism dollars and Elkhart business growth. |

For the residents of Elkhart, the Lerner Theater Project will mean they won't have to go elsewhere to enjoy world-class, live performances. Designed to be the hub of a downtown arts/entertainment district, it will give people reasons to head downtown and enjoy Elkhart in an entirely new way. The community center will also help residents enjoy proms, wedding receptions and other functions that might otherwise be held out of town. |

Because of this, The Lerner Theater Project is a cause for inspiration. As a theater, it brings inspiration for the souls of both young and old through the highly talented performers of the stage. But for Elkhart, its inspiration lies beyond the stage in its ability to inspire a new sense of civic pride and community spirit, a new sense of the possibilities right here in Elkhart, where, among other things, people can spend their money at home and help create new avenues of employment. |
But all of this requires financial support. We are now in the process of raising, from private donations, the final $1 million of this $18 million endeavor. We need your help and the help of all those who care about the future of our city, to bring this project to a successful conclusion. If we can count on you, click here!
